Summer of the dress
I'm not sure that you're all aware of the fact that I've declared this summer "The Summer of the Dress." That means I've been stalking thrift stores for shirtdresses and shifts to expand my inability to decide what to wear. A top and a bottom are just too complicated at this point and all I want is a dress. One piece, yes or no. No pairing of the positive and negative.

We used to have some shelves where the patches are. Unsecured to the studs, they collapsed under the weight of the dry goods they were holding. Unwilling to root for a stud, I've decided to make a chalkboard.
I probably should have rooted for a stud. I really like the idea of open shelving and miss my pots and pans up there. Either way, we'll see what happens with the new message board.

We were stoned, immaculate
We put down a coat of polyurethane on the floor today. It was oil based and since it was 45 outside, I didn't open a window. About an hour into the project I was high as a kite and the bear kept asking me why I was acting funny. I let him finish it up. I generally stay away from oil based paints because of this reason but wonder if I have a hidden addiction to paint fumes since I constantly find myself painting something. Perhaps I should look into it....

Another fun project
The headboard, or crazy 88s as I like to call it. Found it at a thrift store for $15. Used the wall paint for the color but had to purchase some polycrylic to top it off. We'll see how it looks with the platform. Keep in mind that it's a king sized head board and I drive a Honda Civic Hatchback. The bear rode dog that day.

I painted the bathroom on our snow day. It's the left color now. It was oops paint and only cost a buck.

New dress from a vintage pattern and fabric. I finally shaved my legs for the season and just realized how white they are. My mother would be disappointed.

Roscoe Rodgers is my homeboy, take 2
These are images from a screen printing I'm trying to do for a t-shirt. My lovely sister bought me a screen printing kit for Christmas and I'm now trying to figure this all out. My first attempt was to paint screen filler over an image of RR, but only the first swipe worked out.
This is an photo emulsion method using a b&w copy placed onto a treated screen. You treat the screen with the emulsion chemical until it dries and then put the stencil under a light for a bit. For a bit would mean over four hours, not including putting in a new screen. This project is great for anyone who demands instant gratification. Really, it is.
Actually, it's a bit exciting. When the time was up for the exposure, I didn't see anything there until I started to spray the screen. The pressure made the stencil show through and gave a little "woo hoo!"
Now I'm just worried that I got the emulsion too wet and it won't stick. Hey-sooos, this is some kind of flagellation artwork or something....

By far the best add ever
I found this image yesterday while processing magazines at the desk. It's by Annie Leibovitz.
I'm not sure what it is that intrigues me about it. I'll admit that I'm more of a fan of Gorby than Louis since the reproduction rates of the luxury accessories has allowed everyone from Paris to trailer trash to sport the well known insignia.
Perhaps it's just the juxtaposition of the man who helped tear down the wall coupled with the thought that LV was his ulterior motive? Maybe Gorby got a record deal since most straight males that I know are a little more pragmatic when it comes to choosing their traveling gear. Maybe it's just the bleakness of the photo juxtaposed with affluence.

Here again
I just read on LifeHacker that they just released Picasa for Mac. I've been using it for some time now and like it a lot. gAndy introduced it to me and should be pleased he can now use it on his new Mac. There's also a new Craigslist app for iPhone. While this doesn't impact me much, the two iPhone users I know are avid checkers of Craigslist.
